Symptoms That Should Be Assessed In Person

Some symptoms require an urgent face-to-face medical assessment rather than an online consultation. If you experience any of the following, you should seek immediate medical care or attend your nearest Emergency Department.

  • Chest pain or pressure

  • Severe difficulty breathing

  • Sudden weakness, numbness or difficulty speaking (possible stroke)

  • Sudden loss of vision or severe eye injury

  • Severe allergic reaction with facial swelling or difficulty breathing

  • Loss of consciousness or seizures

  • Severe abdominal pain

  • Heavy or uncontrolled bleeding

  • Serious head injury

  • Suspected broken bones or major injuries

  • Large or deep wounds requiring stitches

  • Severe burns

  • Persistent vomiting with signs of dehydration

  • Vomiting blood or passing black or bloody stools

  • Severe neck stiffness with fever and rash

  • Severe headache that starts suddenly ("thunderclap headache")

  • Confusion or altered mental state

  • High fever in a very young infant (under 3 months)

  • Severe pain or swelling of the testicle

  • Pregnancy with severe abdominal pain or heavy bleeding
